Gary Fogelson is one half of Fogelson-Lubliner. Prior to forming the studio he spent three years as a designer at Open, an award winning design studio founded by Scott Stowell. While at Open, he worked on projects for Jazz at Lincoln Center, Arts>World Financial Center, Bravo, Good Magazine, and the Yale University Art Gallery. Gary also teaches typography at Pratt Institute, makes collages, zines and photographs, and occasionally fills in as an art director of the New York Times Op-Ed page. He was born and (proudly) raised in New Jersey.
Phil Lubliner is the other half of Fogelson-Lubliner. Prior to forming the studio, he was a designer and art director at R/GA, Framfab-Copenhagen, and Honest. Projects with these agencies have received recognition from Cannes Lions, AIGA, ADC, and The One Show. He’s had illustrations in ads, packaging, and publications such as Nylon, Print, and The New York Times Magazine. Phil also draws, sculpts, and plays (distorted) piano in his band, Leaders. He is from Chicago.
Gary and Phil were chosen by Print Magazine in 2008 for their list of “New Visual Artists.” In addition to the studio, they run The Holster, a website that archives and distributes self-initiated publishing projects, and are part of Primetime, a collaborative project space in Carroll Gardens. They are both graduates of Pratt Institute.
